Bathroom door fitting

These door fittings with lock is a reproduction of a historical fitting and is often used in public areas or in the private bathroom or guest toilet. The inserted rotatable disc made of enamel, that indicates if the bathrrom is free / occupied, is operated with a turning lock on the inside

. Our toilet door fittings are made of solid cast brass, an alloy of copper and zinc. They are manufactured using the traditional technique of sand casting in our foundry.

Distance dimensions

The distance dimension for bathroom doors in Germany is 78mm. Unfortunately we cannot produce fittings with different dimensions.

Square spindle

Bathrrom door fittings come with 8mm square spindle. The front side of the square spindle is provided with a slot, in order to be able to open the door with a screw driver or similar object from the outside in case of emergency.

The length of the square spindle is provided for a standard door thickness of +/- 40 mm. If your door thickness differs significantly, please make a note on your order.

Rotatable disc

The rotatable enamel disc (diameter 48 mm) has the display "Frei / Besetzt". We manufacture them in a small enamelling factory. An inscription in another language may be possible as a special design.

Turning lock

The small turning lock is designed to match the shape of the door handle.It is firmly fixed to the inner latch. The soldered square spindle operates the locking mechanism in the lock, and at the same time the rotatable disc with the corresponding display.

Available finishes

The bathroom door fittings are available with the following finishes:

• Polished brass, non lacquered €�� gold-coloured €�� going to get darker, become more irregular and dull
• brass, shiny nickel-plated €�� shiny silver-coloured €�� may get a little darker
• brushed brass, satin nickel-plated €�� dim silver-coloured with slight brushed effect- may get a little darker

Scope of delivery

Product content consists of:

• 1 leverset
• 1 plate for the outer side of the door and 1 plate for the inside with turn-type lock and fixed square spindle
• 1 enamel disc
• 1 8mm square spindle/ 100mm long
• Wood screws (pan head screw) for fixing of latch plates

Lead time

These bathroom door fittings are produced to order. Please consider a lead time of 8 weeks.

Mounting instructions

Mounting of internal door fittings is effortless: After positioning the latch plates, the square spindle is put through the lock follower, the levers are fastened to the square spindle by grub screws on both sides (If the square spindle is too long it can easily be cut to the right length using a metal saw). Plates are adjusted and screwed onto the door leaf.

Mounting must only be carried out by a qualified specialist. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.

Care instructions

Brass lives! We always deliver brass fittings non lacquered. The surface is going to get darker, become more irregular and the colouration is going to become livelier. The door fitting will develop its own patina and converge to the look and feel of original historic fittings. If desired you may refurbish the mount. We recommend the polishing wool €��Nevr Dull€���. Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acid. They should be cleaned only with mild detergents and a soft cloth.
