Door Knobs - mighty ornate or simple and small
In historic buildings, large, mighty Door Knobs have their place on the centre frieze of the entrance door to the house or flat. They occupy a central position there and help shape the door with their special ornamentation. The door itself was often only opened with a key. Not entirely practical, but common practice in earlier times.
Smaller knobs can also be used in the lock area as a pull knob.
Mounting is done by screwing through the door from the inside on most models. Alternatively, the knobs can also be simply screwed on, without threaded sleeves on the back.
Some models are also available as rotatable knobs. This allows you to go in and out at any time. If this is not desired, the door must then be locked separately with the key.
Brass Door Knobs are available in various surfaces. The standard version is made of unlacquered polished brass, which develops a patina over time and becomes darker, or silver-coloured - high-gloss or matt nickel-plated.
