Laying
When laying the tiles, we recommend using an elastic adhesive of class C2T in accordance with EN12004. The joints should be at least 2 mm wide. Use a high-quality ready-mixed mortar for grouting. We recommend choosing a grout colour that is as neutral as possible. In the case of highly pigmented grouts, pigments may be absorbed into the craquelure on tiles with a craquelure structure. The effect should be tested on a test tile before grouting. The tiles should be impregnated before grouting in order to prevent absorption. For a good end result, we recommend also impregnating the joints. For more detailed information on adhesive and grout, please refer to the instructions of the respective manufacturer. As tiles from different manufacturing processes (dry pressing, wet pressing and extrusion) are usually laid in a bond during installation, we recommend having the installation carried out by qualified specialists in order to professionally compensate for the typical differences in calibre of non-industrial tile production during installation.
Laying instructions for tiles
When laying the unicoloured tiles, ensure a random cross-mix to achieve a lively and balanced appearance. To do this, remove the tiles alternately from all boxes when laying.Borders and ornamental strips in a tile panel should be laid with staggered joints so that the joint pattern is interrupted and the surface is divided horizontally. This allows ornaments, colours and glaze effects to really come into their own.
All installation work must be carried out by a tiler who is familiar with the specific material properties. We accept no liability for improper workmanship.
Impregnation
Impregnation is only necessary for tiles with a crackle glaze. It is recommended that these are impregnated before grouting, e.g. with FILA MP90.To do this, the tiles must be cleaned of dirt, grease and other impurities so that the impregnation can penetrate unhindered. Make sure that the tiles are completely dry before impregnation. Use a small, wide container for the impregnating agent. Make sure that the roller or brush is saturated with the impregnating agent. Apply the impregnating agent evenly to the surface of the tiles. It is important to apply the impregnation from top to bottom to prevent dripping. When working in this way, it is also easy to determine whether you have treated the entire surface or not. If necessary, it is easy to touch up. The application time is 10 minutes. Use an absorbent cloth to remove any excess residue from the tiles. Make sure that no residue remains!
