    • General product information

These door fittings are often found in French country homes. They are produced in Limoges, a small French town in the northwestern Massif Central. Limoges was mainly famous for its porcelain production. The area around the city has high kaolin deposits, which constitute the main component of the porcelain preparation.

In 1771 the first porcelain factories were founded and still today more than half of the French porcelain comes from Limoges. Until the 19th century, also the French court was supplied with porcelain from Limoges.

      Specific product information

      Material and surfaces

The handle or knobs of the door fittings as well as the roses are made of high gloss finished porcelain, the brass parts of the door handles are made of solid brass. These are lathed from solid material and then milled and polished.

The door handles are available with polished brass finish, unpainted or shiny nickel-plated finish.

      Roses and bathroom doors

By using fittings with roses the distance dimension becomes irrelevant. This can be an advantage when you have older doors with non-standard locks.

If you wish to use these fittings for bathroom doors, we are happy to offer locking latches made of porcelain: These have a locking snib made of porcelain in matching colours on the inside - the outside rose comes with a little hole (to be able to open the door from outside in case of emergency).

    • Instructions for mounting and care

      Mounting instructions

Mounting of internal door fittings is effortless: After positioning the latch plates or roses, the square spindle is put through the lock follower, the levers or knobs are fastened to the square spindle with grub screws on both sides (If the square spindle is too long it can easily be cut to the right length using a metal saw). Plates or roses are adjusted and screwed onto the door leaf with wood screws.

Mounting must only be carried out by a qualified specialist. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.

      Maintenance and care

Porcelain is acid and alkaline resistant, thus impervious and needs no special cleaning.

Unpainted brass surfaces are going to get darker, become more irregular and the colouration is going to be livelier. If desired you may refurbish the mount. We recommend the polishing wool €€œNevr Dull€€®.

Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acid. They should be cleaned only with mild detergents and a soft cloth.
