Our entrance door fittings are made of solid brass, a copper-zinc-alloy. They are manufactured in our own foundry using the traditional technique of sand casting. These entrance door fittings are reproduced according to our original modells and patterns.
Entrance door fittings are usually made as knob-and-lever sets. By this we mean the combination of a fixed knob on the outside of the door and a moveable lever on the inside, connected by a rotatable half spindle. With this kind of door fitting, the door can be opened from outside only with the key. All knob-and-lever sets can be produced as lever sets. With this variant you can open the door from inside and outside using the lever, however the door is not locked. As a special variant we offer these fittings with a fixed lever to the outside or rotatable knob.
Knob-and-Lever-sets come with a rotatable square spindle that is screwed in the M10 thread of the knob. The square has a diameter of 8mm and is delivered with a top case for a size 10 lock follower. Thereby the delicate shape of the knob according to historical templates can be preserved. Other countries often have different square spindle diameters (link List). We ship a switch spindle with a standard length of 100mm and can be cut to the right length using a metal saw.
The lock plates or roses for entrance door fittings are delivered with a punch hole for profile cylinders (abbr. PC) for mortice locks. The lock plate has a hole for the knob, or lever respectively, and a hole for the profile cylinder. Two standard distance dimensions apply in Germany: PC 92mm and PC 72mm â measured from center lever hole to center of the round part of the hole for the profile cylinder. Unless stated otherwise we deliver our entrance door fittings with distance dimension PC 92mm Apartment doors often have locks with a distance of PC 72. Please check before placing orders. Older locks often have different dimensions â other countries have different standard dimensions. If you decide to have a fitting with rose the distance dimension is irrelevant. Production of door fittings with round cylinders is also done on request.
Some door knobs are not symmetrically shaped. It is necessary to state the door hinge before placing orders, to ascertain that the door lever can be be installed correctly. The door hinge for doors that open inward are denominated as follows:
The historical look-and-feel of our entrance door sets is primary. Therefore these fittings are not certified safety door sets. All fittings have threaded sleeves that are soldered on the outside latch or rose respectively, thus installation is made through the door. The fitting cannot be unscrewed from the outside. The visible drill holes are for additional fastening with wood screws. We produce certain fittings with a 10mm outside plate, on request (available at extra cost).

We only have small quantities of some versions of these individually manufactured door fittings in stock. Please consider a lead time of 8 weeks for order related production.
We ship with DPD as insured package, delivery costs Germany 6,80 € (+ possibly island surcharge), EU shipping: 17 €, non EU-countries: shipping costs on request.
Mounting must only be carried out by a qualified specialist. He has the tools and knowledge to mount the door fitting effortless. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting. If you decide to mount the fitting by yourself, we like to offer some useful advise: The mounting of entrance door fittings requires precise workmanship: The door must be drilled through in specified intervals, in order to be able to push through the threaded screws. The square spindle is drilled in the thread of the knob; the top case that is part of the delivery (for locks with size 10 socket) is put on the square spindle. The plate or the knob on rose is put on; the square key is pushed through the lockâs follower. In order to align the plates precisely it is advisable to insert the profile cylinder beforehand. The inner plate is put on the door and is loosely screwed together with the outer plate, using the threaded screw. If the screws or the square spindle are too long they can easily be cut to the right length using a metal saw. The knob is put on the square spindle and gets loosely fastened to the square with a grub screw. If the plates are aligned precisely, the screws can be fixed firmly. Depending on the variant, the plates or roses are fixed with wood screws on the door leaf.
Brass lives! We always deliver brass fittings non lacquered. The surface is going to get darker, become more irregular and the colouration is going to become livelier. The door fitting will develop its own patina and converge to the look and feel of original historic fittings. If desired you may refurbish the mount. We recommend the polishing wool âNevr Dullâ. Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acid. They should be cleaned only with mild detergents and a soft cloth.
