Terracotta is the Latin-Italian name for burned clay. Bells made of terracotta are still very common in Italy on older buildings. The non-glazed material has a very original character and therefore fits well with rural architectural styles.
The recessed shape is the design element of this classic bell plate. It gives the bell button its frame and makes the bell a visual centre of attraction at your entrance door.
Terracotta is made of iron-containing red clay. Terracotta has a natural-warm, earthy reddish hue. Terracotta is very durable, water resistant and resistant to frost. The terracotta rim is untreated and not glazed.
The bell plate is available with 5 different finishes:
Usually we have small quantities in stock (finish polished, unlaquered). Please consider a lead time of 4 weeks for order related production.
We ship with DPD as insured package, delivery costs Germany 6,80 € (+ possibly island surcharge), EU shipping: 17 €, non EU-countries: shipping costs on request.
For mounting, a small, circular recess with a depth of approx. 10 mm must be made in the masonry. No mounting holes are provided with this bell as these could impair the clean look of the bell. The bell contact is simply wired, the doorbell is glued and sealed in the back with silicone adhesive.
Mounting must only be carried out by a qualified specialist. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.
Brass lives! Our standard design of the Italian bell plate is polished brass, non lacquered. The surface is going to get darker, become more irregular and the colouration is going to become livelier. The bell plate will develop its own patina and converge to the look and feel of original historic fittings. If desired you may refurbish the plate from time to time. We recommend the polishing wool “Nevr Dull‮. Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acid. They (as well as lacquered or patinized surfaces) should be cleaned only with mild detergents and a soft cloth.
