Window Handles - Cross-shaped
Window handles in a wide range of styles
The traditional window handle - the dainty Window Handles Cross-shaped
The dainty window handles with a crossed axis have almost gone out of fashion. The so-called Window Handles Cross-shaped is a window handle that is cross-shaped in the centre, making it easy to grip and turn.
The formerly common term Window Handles Cross-shaped is derived from precisely this shape: Thickened in the centre and becoming narrower towards the outer sides, this shape appeared like an olive to the observer - hence the name.
Window Handles Cross-shaped were the usual Window handle until the middle of the last century. For the authentic restoration of historic buildings, they are a must, so to speak, and for a modern design, they are an opportunity to customise aesthetically.
Although the term is still used in technical jargon, today's modern Window handles are usually designed on one side as so-called half olives. Due to their better leverage, these are preferable to traditional Window Handles Cross-shaped, especially for large window sashes or patio doors.
At Replicata, you can also find classic models of half-olives here:

All window handles, whether half olive or full olive, can also be fitted to modern bottom-hung casement windows without any problems. The drill holes are standardised to 43 mm spacing, for metric M5 screws.
