The surface mounting of electrical wiring and switches is still a widespread installation practice. Particularly outdoors, a concealed wiring is often very difficult. In adjoining rooms, cellars or garages surface switches are often used. This saves slotting and opening of walls and allows easy inspection, repair and expansion of the plant and pipeline network.
Bakelite is the hallmark of one of the first early plastics from the early 20th century. Bakelite is characterized by its high strength, heat resistance and insulating properties - an almost ideal material for electrical purposes. The raw material is directly pressed into moulds and hardened by pressure and heat. Therefore bakelite was not taken into consideration for the later spreading injection moulding, and it was gradually replaced by other plastics. And yet: Bakelite has its own aesthetics and appearance - visually as well as haptically.
Switches and sockets are made with solid material with a material thickness of 2.5 mm. The height above plaster is 7 cm. The housing has two parts, and is mounted using two lateral screws. A combination of several outlets or switches and socket can be made with matching pass-through socket. Traditionally, the rotary switch is placed above the socket.
The rotary knob, with which the internal mechanical over-center is operated, is also made of solid Bakelite: A system employed spring translates the slow rotation in an abrupt switch, whereby the typical clacking, a well sounding noise, occurs.
All switches and sockets are tested by VDE and meet their strict safety regulations.

The outlet is designed with screwed contacts. Switches and /or outlets are attached by means of two lateral screws on the wall, the cable feed is surface mounted, too. Please note that all installation work on electrical installations must be carried out by a qualified electrician. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.
The switches are resistant to extreme strain ( e.g. scratches ). They can easily be cleaned with domestic cleaning agents.
