Chalk is a softcalcareous sedimentary rock, which has been used for centuries as a colour limewash. A broad chalk band crosses Europe from the Champagne to the island of Rügen. The winning of chalk began on Rügen at the beginning of the 19th century. Chalk became the most popular and famous painting material in the former GDR.

Our chalk paint has a high chalk and pigment content. The resulting velvety, powdery matt surface and intense colour depth create a warm room atmosphere. With its characteristic mattfinish, the paint gives the room a very special depth effect.

Constituents

Chalk paint is a dispersion-bound paint consisting of chalk, water and natural pigments. Only natural raw materials are used. The paint is free of plastic-containing additives.

Colours and colour samples

We offer chalk paint in 76 different colour nuances and colour gradations. The pictorial colour names are intended to give an approximate idea of €€‹€€‹the hue, because the display on screen or in print can only approximate the real impression.

Theredore all colours are also available in the 60 ml sample vial to be used for the determination of the hue by means of sample paints on site, taking into account the specific lighting situation. They are not suitable for the partial repair of already painted surfaces.

Suitability and surfaces

Chalk paint is a paint for indoor walls and ceilings. It should be noted that when used for painting kitchens and bathrooms, it should not be used for areas which are directly or continuously in contact with water or water vapor (shower, sink, etc.)

The paint is suitable for new and old solid surfaces. It can be used on interior plasters (also clay plaster), gypsum, paper pots or matt old paints on a dispersion basis.

Processing and consumption

Chalk is a ready-to-use paint. It can easily be processed with a paint roller or brush. It can also be diluted with water (max.10% for highly absorbent substrates). The paint has good coverage, usually one painting is enough. However, the typical powdery-matte chalk effect often only occurs with a second coat of paint. Dark and colour-intensive tones in any case require two coats.

A can with 2500 ml is sufficient for one coat on approx. 15-20 sqm.

The painting equipment can simply be washed out with water. When sealed properly, the paint can be used for 6 months.

Application

In order to achieve a nice result, careful preparatory work is essential according to the surface:

For mineral substrates such as plaster, concrete, cement or stone, care must be taken to carefully fill cracks and holes. The surface should be dry, free of dust and grease. The need for primer depends on the nature of the wall. If necessary, it is sufficient to dilute the first coat slightly with water.

Already existing coatings can easily be painted over.

lao Wallpapers and even structured tapestries, can be painted over with chalk paint.

Lead time

The colour will be mixed after your order. The delivery time is approx. 3-4 days.

Handling

The surface must be clean, dry, free of oil and grease, absorbent and bearing. Remove non bearing, peeling paint. Remove distemper paint and wash off chalking surfaces. New plasters must be dried for at least 4 weeks or treated with flourosilicate. Pretreat critical and strongly absorbent surfaces with mineral primer.

Apply a rich, even coat of paint. On high-contrast, strongly absorbent or differently absorbent surfaces, a previous primer coat, diluted with max. 10% water may be required. Stir well before use. At 20 °C and a relative humidity of 65%, the paint can be recoated after 4-6 hours. The paint can be applied by brush, roller or airless sprayer. Work slowly and patiently to avoid striation.

When processing more than one colour container, always pay attention to the same numbers to prevent colour differences. Do not apply below + 5 ° C (applies to the air and the surface)!

Cleaning and care

Light impurities are best removed with a dry, lint-free kitchen towel. Chalk paint is wash-resistant at the latest after 14 days.

For areas exposed to extreme conditions, an additional seal is recommended as surface protection.

The pens can simply be washed out with water. Material residues can be released into the household waste after drying out.

Ingredients

The VOC content (volatile organic compounds) of our paint is at max. 1g / l (EU limit value max 30g / l) and corresponds to the current EU environmental legislation. Water, phosphate, vinyl acetate dispersion, talc, silicate, chalk, white pigment, cellulose, paraffin wax, polysiloxane, porcelain earth, mica, preservatives, organic and inorganic colour pigments. Contains 1,2-BENZISOTHIAZOL-3 (2H) -ON. Can cause allergic reactions. Benzisothiazole is a preservative that inhibits the growth of microorganisms.

Safety note

Keep out of the reach of children. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Do not inhale spray mist.If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. Ensure good ventilation during and after application. Do not eat, drink, or smoke at work. Do not allow to enter waterways / sewers / soil. All containers must be sealed properly after use. Store in cool but frost-free conditions.
