The canopy is an important design element for the entrance area. Wrought iron canopies were an almost self-evident part in all urban houses around the turn of the century. The stylistic idiom of the times was clearly reflected:
The design of a canopy is essentially determined by the side-mounted brackets. During the period of historicism brackets existed in the most varied versions: They were usually forged elaborately, richly ornamented and decorated with many swings and counter-swings. During subsequent Jugenstil the molds were slightly softer, sometimes more reduced and unconventional. In later times, the brackets were more rectilinear. Nowadays they are mostly designed as purely functional components.
The brackets are manufactured in artisanal forging after original templates in a small forge. The 5 mm thick flat iron can be heated and reshaped according to the benders. The compounds are partially clamped or riveted like in the old days, and in some cases also welded.
Since housing situations, and accordingly, the canopies can be very different, we offer only the brackets. These can be individually adjusted by your mechanic to the local structural conditions.
We supply thebrackets without surface treatment, i.e. non-galvanized and unpainted. Since any further drilling or fastening devices have yet to be made, the brackets can be only galvanized and painted afterwards. This work can be undertaken by your locksmith.
It should be noted that building regulations for overhead glazing only VSG (laminated safety glass) from TVG (heat strengthened glass) with a thickness of min. 2 x 6 mm may be used. All constructive work and installation work must be performed by a professional who is familiar with the relevant safety regulations.
Usually we have small quantities in stock. Please consider a lead time of 8 weeks for order related production.
