General product information
- Rim locks are the forerunners of the mortise locks commonly used today. In contrast to mortise locks, which are not visibly embedded in the door leaf, these are locks that are mounted on the door leaf. In the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods, these were designed as open locks in which the mechanism was visible. Later, the lock mechanism was concealed so that only a box attached to the door was visible.
Specific product information
-
In southern Germany, iron plates are usually inserted flush with the surface on the side facing away from the lock. These are often painted over on lacquered doors. A guide escutcheon is screwed or riveted on to the entrance plate.
The plates are available with handle hole punching - then the distance dimension should match. And there are the plates without punched handle holes - then you can have the plate customised according to your spacing dimensions.
