Porcelain knobs on drawers and cabinets lend the furniture, whether ancient or modern, a special character. Porcelain knobs are likely to be used in kitchens or bathrooms, where they emphasise furniture fronts in a friendly manner. Porcelain with its pleasant haptic, is also extremely robust and easy to clean.

Our porcelain knobs are produced in Limoges, a small French town in the northwestern Massif Central. Limoges was mainly famous for its porcelain production. The area around the city has high kaolin deposits, which constitute the main component of the porcelain preparation.

In 1771 the first porcelain factories were founded and still today more than half of the French porcelain comes from Limoges. Until the 19th century, also the French court was supplied with porcelain from Limoges.

Materials and surfaces

The knobs are made of high-gloss white porcelain. Porcelain is downright durable: it does not grow yellow, does not wear off and retains its luster and look-and-feel for decades.

The porcelain furniture knob is inserted into a base of solid brass. The base is available in two finishes - depending on the model:

• brass, non lacquered €€“ gold-coloured - going to get darker, with a livelier colouration
• brass, shiny nickel-plated - warm silver shade

Scope of delivery

The porcelain knob is supplied with a M4 screw (length 30 mm).

Mounting

Installation of furniture knobs is very simple: The screw is guided through a predrilled hole from the inside of the piece of furniture and the porcelain knob is simply screwed on from the outside. Should the screw be too long, it can easily be cut with a hacksaw.

Maintenance and care

Porcelain is acid and alkaline resistant, thus impervious and needs no special cleaning.

Unpainted brass surfaces are going to get darker, become more irregular and the colouration is going to be livelier.

Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acid. They should be cleaned only with mild detergents and a soft cloth.
