Columns as a design element of architecture are known from ancient times. Cast iron columns, as they were widely used in the middle of the nineteenth century, often used their ornamentation.

Nowadays, columns are still used as historical relics: they shape canopies, arcades, verandas or balconies, and are also used as a special architectural element in representative entrance areas, in spacious lofts or elegant winter gardens.

Material and surface

The decorative column elements are made of cast aluminum and are produced using the technique of sand casting. The seamless tubes are made of extruded aluminum. They have a high stability and a comparatively low weight, which makes handling and installation very easy. The column elements are grinded after casting and subsequently blasted, which gives the surface a slightly roughened look. They are hardly distinguishable from old columns of cast iron.

Tube elements

The tubes have a diameter of 80 mm. They are available in three standard lengths: 2000 mm / 2500 mm / 3000 mm. If necessary, they can be shortened by your locksmith to the required length. If desired and for an additional charge, the column can also be delivered in the desired length.

The tubes are available in two versions: as a smooth tube or as a canted tube with a groove pattern. Please pay attention to the load capacities depending on the type and length.

Capitals, pedestals and ornamental rings

The cast columns are modularly build and consist of individual components, which you can combine freely with each other. This results in a wide variety of possibilities.

• Capitals - can be used as a capital element or pedestal element
• Pedestals - with or without cover plate (so calles plinth)
• Ornamental rings- for additional design of the tubes or top or bottom area

Colour coating

A possible varnishing in a colour of your choice should be made by the customer only after installation. Small boreholes and imperfections, which may have arisen through the assembly, can be spackled and painted. Painted with micaceous iron colours, the columns will than look very authentic.

Possible use

Columns are still used today in a variety of ways as special architectural design element in and around the house: In the wintergarden, on the terrace or veranda or in freestanding pavilions they come into their own. Commonly, the columns are also used to support balconies. In representative entrance areas or in big rooms, such as in restaurants or spacious lofts, the ornate pillars help shape the room and are a real eye-catcher.

The individual elements will be shipped ex works directly to you. The lead time is approximately 3 weeks.

Packaging and delivery

The column elements are usually shipped directly to the construction site with a forwarding agency. We would be pleased to provide you with an offer including transport costs. Please let us know the number of individual elements as well as the desired tube length.

Mounting should be carried out by a locksmith who is familiar with the specific characteristics of the material. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.
