Light switches with glass covers have been around since the '30s, and are now around again! The transparent glass frames almost let the switch disappear optically. In a discreetly genteel manner, the light switch is thus part of the wall design.
Bakelite is the hallmark of one of the first early plastics from the early 20th century. Bakelite is characterized by its high strength, heat resistance and insulating properties - an almost ideal material for electrical purposes. The raw material is directly pressed into moulds and hardened by pressure and heat. Therefore bakelite was not taken into consideration for the later spreading injection moulding, and it was gradually replaced by other plastics. And yet: Bakelite has its own aesthetics and appearance - visually as well as haptically.
The rotary and toggle switches as well as the buttons have a solid ceramic body.
The over-center of the rotary switch consists of 42 items and is the result of mechanical precision work: regardless of the speed of the rotational movement, a uniform switch contact is ensured, which ends in a slight, familiar clacking - the switch mechanism, thus prevents the imminent arc effect that may impair the switching contacts in the long run, even with alternating current. To ensure safe shifting, the over-center is also treated galvanically.
All switches and sockets in this series are manufactured in Germany.
The rotary switches are available with 3 diverse functionalities:
Rocker switchs are generally used when you want to operate from a minimum of 3 locations. In contrast to the cross-connect this installation requires an impulse switch (relay), however the wiring and the design of the light switch is easier. Instead of the latching relay and a staircase time switch (time relay) can be used.
The glass frames have a thickness of 4 mm and are thermally cured. They have a bevelled edge of 45 ° with finely polished edges, so that the frame is not perceived as a disturbing ring.
All switches, sockets and junction boxes can be ordered as a so-called inserts and you can order the desired cover separately. Thus, you can combine and arrange switches and frames freely.
Please note that the rotary switches are available with or without central insert. The glass cover must be chosen accordingly.
The distances of the system covers correspond to the standard intervals of 71 mm. They can be used easily in existing installations.
All switches and sockets are tested by VDE and meet their strict safety regulations.
We usually have small quantities in stock. Please consider a lead time of 2-3 weeks for significant order quantities.
We ship with DPD as insured package, delivery costs Germany 6,80 € (+ possibly island surcharge), EU shipping: 17 €, non EU-countries: shipping costs on request.
All switches and outlets fit self-evidently in the commercial, standard wall outlets (e.g. from Kaiser).
Enclosed with the glass covers you will receive templates out of white cardboard, which can be inserted precisely fitting, directly below the glass covers. The cardboard covers may be covered with wallpaper or painted in the desired wall colour. After a possible disassembly of the switch (e.g. for technical examination), the cardboard covers ensure that the original uniform appearance with the wall is maintained.
Please note that all installation work on electrical installations must be carried out by a qualified electrician. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.
The switches are resistant to extreme strain ( e.g. scratches ). They can easily be cleaned with domestic cleaning agents.
