General product information
-
Our garden furniture from the ARRAS range is both comfortable and elegant. Originally, the furniture was designed to furnish the parks and gardens of the upper middle classes, who had the time, leisure and money to enjoy themselves outdoors.
These garden chairs and benches are a product of the industrial revolution of 1870 - 1920. They were manufactured in a locksmith's workshop in the small town of ARRAS in northern France, which developed into a large-scale industrial operation and whose iron furniture eventually became a French classic and was exported worldwide.
Geographically and politically caught between the fronts during the two world wars, production shifted to other areas. Only recently have the moulds been rediscovered and we can now offer them as genuine replicas

Material and shape
Benches and armchairs from the ARRAS series are characterised by their curved and soft design. Seductive and graceful, they invite you to take a little rest. Nevertheless, they are of exceptionally heavy iron quality. The feet are widened downwards in the shape of horse hooves to prevent them from sinking into the ground. The furniture is made of bent semicircular iron, which is joined together in very narrow strips. This creates an almost closed and comfortable seating area. The joints are not welded, but are still handcrafted with real rivets.
Surface
Benches and armchairs are available in either green or white patinated colour lacquering. The furniture is galvanised and therefore rust-protected. Minor imperfections that may occur over time have a special charm and give the furniture life and its individual history.
