As plain and simple as it used to be - the pull bells that sound outside next to the main door are simply made to vibrate by gently pulling on the link chain. The clapper in the bell strikes the outer wall and ...it rings! In contrast to some other electronic sounds, this sound is hardly perceived as disturbing.
The bells are still made using traditional craftsmanship in a small forge in the Czech Republic. Depending on the model, the bell itself is forged or made of cast brass and then attached to a swinging bell frame.

The wrought iron draw bells are coated with a colourless protective varnish after production so that the beautiful rustic iron look is retained. However, the paint is not absolute rust protection. If exposed to heavy weathering, rust film may form over time. If you find this annoying, simply rub off and repaint.
