Surface mounting, as was common at the beginning of the last century, means the visible laying of cables, wires or pipes. These are laid directly or with spacer clips over plaster on the wall.
For a long time, surface-mounted installation was considered unsightly, even frowned upon, but sometimes unavoidable. Today, however, building technology no longer has to be hidden away. Used consciously, this switch system with its associated pipe system allows a new perspective on things and now helps to shape walls and rooms. Building technology can show itself again!

Material and manufacture
The GARBY / DIMBLER switch system is manufactured by the long-established Spanish manufacturer FONTINI, whose products we distribute in Germany.The body of the switches, sockets and junction boxes is made of porcelain. Porcelain has always been a popular material in electrical engineering: porcelain has a crystal-clear appearance, a pleasant feel and particularly good insulating properties.
The porcelain body has a small semi-circular opening at the bottom for cable entry. All switches, sockets and junction boxes are also available without a cable outlet if flush-mounted installation is required.
Safety and fire protection
All switches and sockets in this surface-mounted series comply with the standards required in Germany. They fulfil the strict safety regulations of the VDE.Important note: When mounting on flammable surfaces, the surface-mounted switches, sockets and junction boxes must be mounted on a fire protection plate in accordance with regulations. This is a plastic plate that is simply inserted at the back. This is not included in the scope of delivery.
Designs - sockets
The body of the sockets and junction boxes is made of porcelain. Porcelain has always been a favourite material in electrical engineering: porcelain has a crystal-clear aesthetic, a pleasant feel and particularly good insulating properties.
We offer the sockets in 2 designs: As a German Schuko socket or as a socket with centre contact for the French electrical system (F), both in the following design variants:- as a socket with a body made of porcelain and an inner part made of thermoset socket
- as a socket with a complete porcelain body
Tubes and accessories
The surface-mounted conduits made of iron (painted matt rust colour) have a length of 3 metres. They can also be split on request. We offer the tubes in 3 different diameters: 16 / 22 / 25 mm. Other connecting accessories should be selected in the appropriate diameter.Mounting variants
Surface mounting
The use of wooden base plates is recommended for surface mounting. These are made of beech wood and are available in four different surface finishes:
- natural, unlacquered
- natural lacquered
- honey-coloured lacquered
- aged, dark matt lacquered
Flush-mounted installation
When flush-mounted, it is important to note that the switches and sockets cannot be placed on standard flush-mounted sockets. The diameter is too small for this. With existing standard installations, however, you can combine the switches and sockets with special wooden base plates for flush-mounted installation or place them on the cover frames with mounting plate provided for this purpose.
Mounting without base plates or frames is easy to realise with a pre-wall installation. If you have not yet installed a standard box, you can work with small special flush-mounted boxes and mount the switch directly on the wall.

Installation instructions
The interior is mounted on the base or the wooden base plate with 2 screws, wired, then the housing is slipped over it and screwed in place.We would like to point out that all installation work on electrical installations must be carried out by a specialist. We accept no liability for damage caused by improper mounting.
Maintenance
Porcelain is extremely impact and scratch-resistant and does not require any special care. A soft cloth is simply recommended for occasional cleaning.
