Ornamental glass ERBSE - white opaque textured glass
Historic textured glass for doors and windows
ERBSE ornamental glass has a characteristic ‘pea’ structure that lets light through but prevents a clear view. Objects behind the glass remain only vaguely recognisable - ideal for areas where brightness and privacy are equally important, such as entrance areas, stairwells, vestibules or bathrooms.
Often used at the turn of the century, its neutral appearance lends historical buildings and modern rooms a nostalgic charm.
Small casting defects and small stones emphasise its authenticity and make it a popular choice for listed buildings and decorative accents both indoors and outdoors.
The glass is available as tableware in two different sizes. We also offer customised cutting on request.

Manufacture
The surface structure of the glass is created in a special manufacturing process: the glass is moulded between two rollers at 1,200°C and processed accordingly, then cooled and cut to size. Embossing in the rollers gives the glass its more or less heavily ornamented surface. Depending on the type of roller, glasses with stars, waves, honeycombs, prisms and other embossed shapes are created in the glass surface. Structured glass as insulating glass
Structured glass can also be processed into insulating glass. We will be happy to provide you with a quotation for this. Please specify the glass dimensions and the desired glass thickness when ordering.Glass sizes
Due to the manufacturing process, the glass dimensions are limited to the specified panel size. Customised production in larger dimensions is not possible. We would like to point out that structured glass may have moulded edges due to the production process and may therefore differ in size.Light diffusion and possible applications
In contrast to flat float glass, structured glass is not transparent, but translucent. They refract light in their own unique way and create a diffuse lighting effect, but still have a high level of light transmission. These glasses are still often used today as a design element in entrance doors. Structured glass is particularly suitable for rooms where light needs to enter but a clear view is not desired, e.g. in bathrooms, room doors, skylights or as a privacy screen in offices.

Due to the manufacturing process, the glass may have small irregularities and colour deviations: varying glass thicknesses, small air inclusions or surface markings give the glass its characteristic charm.
