General product information
- Muslin glass, also known as mousseline glass, is a glass with a transparent pattern on a frosted background. It was mainly used in entrance doors towards the end of the 19th century. It was intended to let light into the hallway, but not to be transparent. In the past, the glass was etched with hydrofluoric acid, hence the synonymously used term etched glass. Today, the glass is usually satinised using a special fine blasting process.

Standard sizes / special sizes
We stock etched glass in the 4 mm float glass design as standard in the specified sheet size. The glass can also be manufactured in other thicknesses on request, and in special sizes for some samples. Design variants
We can offer etched glass in the following designs:- Float glass (single glass)
- Single-pane safety glass (ESG) - a thermally toughened glass that is more stable and shatters into small cubes when broken, similar to a car windscreen, thus minimising the risk of injury. The glass cannot be cut or processed afterwards.
- Laminated safety glass (LSG) - this glass consists of 2 panes of glass that are bonded together with a highly elastic, tear-resistant film. Advantages: It does not shatter when broken (required by building regulations for overhead glazing) and is burglar-resistant.
- Multi-pane insulating glass (MIG 24 mm) - this is double glazing with a gas-filled air cavity with a U-value of 1.1 W/sqmK in accordance with DIN EN 673. Glass structure: 4 mm float glass / 16 mm cavity / 4 mm float glass (different thicknesses on request)

Cleaning and care
Due to the manufacturing process, the satinised side of the etched glass is slightly roughened. Please do not use glass cleaner for cleaning. Remove any dirt with diluted spirit and a soft microfibre cloth. Good cleaning results can also be achieved with flour or fine sawdust. Installation
The satinised side is the more striking side of the glass. It could also be referred to as the "show side". This is usually used facing outwards.
