Door knob outside front door CANTARA - Historicism - Brass
Historic door knob for the historic front door in the Wilhelminian style
This door knob made of solid brass impresses with its detailed decorations in the style of the Wilhelminian period and historicism. The decoratively designed knob and the richly ornamented rosette lend an authentic, historic charm to the exterior of any front door.
In the standard version, the rose is fitted with threaded sleeves on the back and the knob is screwed on from the inside. To preserve the historic look, the knob is additionally fixed with small pan-head screws.
The door knob is also available as a screw-on or swivelling knob.
This door knob is handcrafted according to our original model using the sand casting process. It is available in slightly patinated brass or silver-coloured - shiny or matt nickel-plated.

General product information
-
The classic place for a door knob is historically on the centre frieze of the door. It occupies a central position there and helps to shape the door with its ornamentation. Accordingly, historical door knobs are often heavily designed and decorated and appear very powerful.
The larger door knob models are usually not suitable for the lock area. If the frieze is not wide enough, there is otherwise a risk of pinching fingers when opening and closing. It is therefore essential to pay attention to the knob diameter when making your selection!

Care instructions
Brass is alive! We always deliver brass fittings unlacquered. The surface will darken slightly and become more irregular and vibrant in colour. The hardware develops its own patina and approaches the appearance of original historical hardware. If you wish, you can polish the sliding door shell from time to time. We recommend the polishing pad Nevr Dull® for this purpose. Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acids. They should only be cleaned with a mild detergent and a soft cloth.
