General product information
-
The canopy is an essential design element for the entrance area. At the turn of the century, wrought-iron canopy constructions were an almost self-evident feature of all urban houses. The design language of the respective period was clearly expressed here:
The design of a canopy is essentially determined by the brackets attached to the side. In the Historicism period, consoles were available in a wide variety of designs: They were usually elaborately forged, richly ornamented and decorated with many curves and counter-curves. In the subsequent Art Nouveau style, the forms became somewhat softer, sometimes also more reduced and idiosyncratic. In later periods, the consoles became more straightforward. Today, they are mostly designed as purely functional building elements.

Materials and surfaces
The consoles are made by hand in a small forge according to original patterns. The 5 mm thick flat iron is heated and moulded according to the bending jigs. The connections are partly stapled or riveted, as was customary in the past, and partly welded. As structural situations and, accordingly, canopy constructions can vary greatly, we only offer the consoles themselves. This means that they can be individually adapted to the local conditions on site by your locksmith.
We supply the consoles without surface treatment, i.e. ungalvanised and unpainted. As additional holes or fastening devices may still need to be drilled, the consoles can only be galvanised and painted afterwards. This work can be carried out by your locksmith.
Notes on glazing
Please note that under building regulations, only laminated safety glass made of TVG (partially toughened glass) with a thickness of at least 2 x 6 mm may be used for overhead glazing. All construction and installation work must be carried out by a specialist who is familiar with the relevant safety regulations.
