The bell pull - a purely mechanical operating principle
Before the days of electric doorbells, there was another way to make yourself heard besides knocking on the entrance door: The bell pull. The bell rope is attached to the outside of the entrance door. A small pulling movement on the handle of the linkage causes the bell mounted inside to vibrate via a pull rope and ring at the point in the house where it is easily audible.

Care instructions
Brass is alive! The brass doorbell rosette in the unlacquered brass design will darken slightly and become more irregular and vibrant in colour. It will develop its own patina and take on an almost authentic appearance. If you wish, you can polish the doorbell from time to time. We recommend Nevr Dull® polishing pad for this purpose. Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acids. Just like painted or patinated surfaces, they should only be cleaned with a mild cleaning agent and a soft cloth.
Care instructions
The rod of the bell pull has a graphite-containing coating. This coating only protects the material from the weather to a limited extent. Apply linseed oil to the rod at regular distances to protect it from the weather.

Select an installation location where there is enough space for the bell on one side of the wall or door frame and the bell pull on the other side. Mark the spot where you want to attach the base plate for the pull. Drill a horizontal hole for the cable through the wall or door frame above this mark.Mounting the pull rod on the wall
First, attach the base plate for the pull. Pre-drill the 4 holes for the base plate in the wall or door frame and mount the plate with the screws. Attach the two rod guides vertically to each other so that the pull rod hangs freely and can be easily operated.
Mounting the bell (on the wall or ceiling)
Fix the bracket of the bell bracket to the wall so that the cable emerges from the wall at the height of the mounting eye of the bell spring. Once the bracket is mounted, the bell is placed on the square axle and secured with the nut. The bell can be mounted on the wall or ceiling. To mount the base plate to the ceiling, the spring must be rotated 90° and placed on the rod.
Mounting the rope
To connect the bell and the pull rod, feed the rope through the hole in the wall or door frame. Mount the rope with a small loop to the eyelet of the bell or pull rod. To do this, slide a cable clamp a few centimetres onto the cable. Now feed the end of the rope through the eyelet and then back through the clamp. Then press the clamp closed using the pliers.
Now guide the other end of the rope to the free eyelet. Adjust the cable so that it is only slightly tensioned and the pull handle returns to its original position by itself after the bell has been operated. Now mount this end of the rope to the eyelet with a loop. Before closing the clamp, check the tension of the rope once again. If the tension is correct, press the clamp closed and cut off the excess rope up to the clamp. The stainless steel cable can only be cut cleanly with sharp side cutters!
All installation work should be carried out and checked by a specialist or under their direction and supervision. We accept no liability for damage caused by improper mounting.
