Bell plate brass FIRENZE for door intercom - single row
Brass bell plate for the door intercom
An Italian brass bell plate for the door intercom system of an apartment block. The FIRENZE bell plate has a single-row design and is available with up to 6 bell contacts. At the top and bottom, the plate is moulded with a basket arch. The gently curved shape of the intercom grille gives the bell plate an exclusive aesthetic that makes it stand out and also fits in well with historic buildings.
The standard finish of the FIRENZE bell plate is polished, unlacquered brass. In this version, the doorbell plate will darken slightly, becoming more irregular and lively in colour. It develops its own patina and takes on an almost authentic appearance.
However, if you prefer, the doorbell plate is also available in a dark patinated finish, chrome-plated or with a bright, shiny PVD coating.
The matching flush-mounted box made of galvanised sheet steel is flush-mounted in the masonry and the bell plate is fixed to it with special brass screws. This means it cannot simply be unscrewed from the outside.

Italian brass doorbell plates
In earlier times, doorbell plates, also known as bell plates, were adapted to the style of the respective building period and contributed to the design of the house entrance area. They were often richly decorated and therefore something special in themselves.
Nowadays, multi-storey houses require doorbells with intercom systems. The old signs have been replaced by modern, sometimes unattractive bell systems.
When strolling through the cities of Italy, however, you will come across a beautifully designed solution in many places: the bell plates are based on traditional shapes

Surface finishes
The bell plate is available in 5 different surfaces:- Brass polished, unlacquered - standard finish - will tarnish over time and become significantly darker
- Brass dark bronze patinated - matt, slightly irregular coloured surface

- Brass chrome-plated - high-gloss silver-coloured
- Brass PVD-coated - high-gloss gold-coloured, impact and scratch-resistant, no colour change
Doorbell contacts
The doorbell contacts are 12V screw contacts that are simply wired to the connection cables. If you would like to use a bell button as a light button, a relay can be connected behind it by your electrician.Brass nameplate
The name plates (54 x 20 mm) are made of engravable brass. They are mounted with small round-headed screws and small screw nuts on the back. The name badges are supplied in the brass design as standard. If you have frequent changes of tenants, it is advisable to order replacement nameplates at the same time.Plexiglass nameplate
If the entrance area is poorly lit, the bell plate can also be backlit. For this purpose, we offer engravable nameplates made of Plexiglas (54 x 20 mm) as an alternative to the brass plates. Please specify when ordering! For backlighting, light-emitting diodes must be attached to the back by your electrician (not included).Engravings
We would ask you to have the nameplate engraved by an engraver on site. This will allow you to customise font types, font widths, etc. If you are looking for an engraver, a look at the BIV database of the Bundesverband der Galvaniseure, Graveure und Metallbildner can help you.Customised products
We can also have these bell plates customised according to your specifications, with any number of bell buttons and also with a video cut-out. Just ask us and we will be happy to provide you with a customised quote.Doorbell contact
The doorbell contact is a 12V screw contact that can be easily wired to the existing connection cables.

Care instructions
Brass is alive! Our standard version of the Italian bell plates is polished brass, unlacquered. In this design, the bell plate will darken slightly, becoming more irregular and more vibrant in colour. It develops its own patina and takes on an almost authentic appearance. If you wish, you can polish the plate from time to time. We recommend Nevr Dull® polishing pad for this purpose. Nickel-plated surfaces are sensitive to acids. Just like painted or patinated surfaces, they should only be cleaned with a mild cleaning agent and a soft cloth. Installation instructions
The flush-mounted box must be flush-mounted in the masonry and the flush-mounted door loudspeaker must be installed correctly (there is a mounting bracket on the back behind the speech grille, but this is not suitable for all loudspeakers. Your electrician will find the right fixing solution for your loudspeaker). Before attaching the bell plate, screw on the engraved nameplate and fix it with the small nut on the back. Wire the bell buttons with the connection cables and fix the bell plate to the flush-mounted box using the special screws. Make sure that the bell plate is well supported and that no water can enter behind it.
