The tile as an artistic object
Art Nouveau is the comparatively short period of art history between 1890 and 1914 at the beginning of the First World War. During this time, the aesthetic perception of form and design changed at a rapid pace. Floral abstractions, flowing lines and, later, geometric shapes were key design features.
The incredible creative will to design at the time is also reflected in the diversity of tile designs. They could not be more different and yet more groundbreaking for later times. Whether figurative motifs, abstract floral forms or reduced geometric ornaments - the choice is immense. The combination of Decor Tiles, Unicoloured Wall Tiles and floor tiles creates entire murals that give the bathroom, kitchen or hallway a unique look.
The tiles are produced using traditional craftsmanship. The Coloured glazes on the Decor Tiles are applied by hand with a brush or paint horn - the colour composition therefore has slightly different shades to the Unicoloured tiles. This brings a lively play of colours to your tiled wall!
