Every house needs to have a house number - but fortunately only a few municipalities in this country make requirements how these should look like. Wrought iron house numbers are often used in rural areas, but also in urban areas they are a suitable supplement when there are already wrought iron elements at the entrance such as door grating, fence elements or a forged canopy.
The font used for letters and numbers is an old serif from the turn of the century. It has a soft shape and clear lines, which makes it easy to read.
The house number is laser-cut from a 5 mm thick iron plate. Subsequently they are forged by hand with small hammer blows under the forge, so that they get their characteristic, finely textured surface. In a next step, the edited number is galvanised. The galvanising protects the ferrous material against rust.
The house number has two threaded sleeves soldered on the back. The supplied nail pins are screwed in these sleeves and the house number is then driven into predrilled holes in the building wall or glued in - but only to the extent that it is not completely flush, but still has some distance to the house wall. It should look as if it floats in front of the wall. This makes the house number look plastic, it stands out more clearly, thus it is easier to see.
