Gargoyles, also called €Gargouille"(French) have been around since ancient times. Gargoyles have and had the function to €spout away€ the water that accumulated in the drainpipe from the building and thus to protect the masonry. In earlier times Gargoyles had also symbolic meaning: they were often designed as animals, sometimes fabulous and demonic beings. Through their demonic appearance they should ward off evil spirits and demons and protect the building from evil forces.
Nowadays gargoyles are used as a playful element: As decorative downspout decorations or roof edge finishes, as water outlets for fountains or as individual design elements in the garden area.
Our gargoyles are made of ductile materials (rolled metal sheets). All models are offered in the two materials copper DIN 1787 or titanium zinc DIN EN 988. The material thickness is about 0.7 mm.
Copper is a very durable material. It changes its colour from bright red to dark brown over time. It has a high resistance even under severe weather conditions.
Titanium zinc is an alloy of zinc and small amounts of titanium and copper. Titanium zinc has a blue-gray color and will get slightly darker over time. Also titanium zinc is a very durable, corrosion-resistant material.
Rainwater pipes, drain pipes or downspouts have standardised sizes. Accordingly, our Gargoyles are - depending on the model - produced with different connection diameters of 22 - 100mm. The inner diameters are nominal dimensions. These may differ minimally.
Our big dragon model is available in 5 different diameters 60/76/80/87/100 mm. Upon request, this model can also be manufactured with a soldered adapter tube from 100 mm to 120 mm diameter.
Usually we have small quantities in stock. Please consider a lead time of 3 weeks for larger quantities.
We ship with DPD as insured package, delivery costs Germany 6,80 € (+ possibly island surcharge), EU shipping: 17 €, non EU-countries: shipping costs on request.
The Gargoyle is put on the water pipe and must be either fixed with rivets or the gargoyle must be soldered on.
Mounting must only be carried out by a qualified specialist. We cannot accept any liability for damages due to incorrect mounting.
